Hello, I’m Sumi,
Well-being practitioner since 2009.

I teach Mindfulness and Meditation to help you find balance and calm when life feels overwhelming and stressful. Additionally, I am training to be an ACA-certified Counsellor.

I have long understood the interconnectedness between the physical body and emotional and psychological well-being through my own therapeutic journey and having previously worked as a Sports & Remedial Massage Therapist and Clinical Pilates Instructor for over a decade. The 2020 COVID-19 lockdowns prompted an opportunity to understand this relationship further, leading to commencing psychological studies at university. I am now in my final subjects of a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) and the beginning of a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling. Additionally, I have completed a Diploma of Counselling Skills for which I graduated as Dux and attained Meditation Australia accreditation in Mindfulness and Meditation.

I facilitate small group Mindfulness and Meditation classes and private sessions in Central West NSW and online. What I particularly love sharing about Mindfulness and Meditation is how neuroscience and modern, evidence-based psychological research complement these practices. This enables my clients to understand how the mind and body respond to life experiences and the thinking and behavioural processes and patterns that subsequently occur. Research has demonstrated that mental exercises such as Mindfulness and Meditation can change these processes. By providing peaceful time for busy minds, my clients can experience the impactful benefits of simple practices and develop ways to make them their own to find what it is to feel grounded.

I also work in bereavement support at Red Nose Australia and provide volunteer support at Griefline. Bereavement is an area I resonate closely with, having lost my beautiful mum to cancer far too early in her life. My grief led to the foundation of Wear Your Grief, a social connection initiative aiming to honour grief experiences and encourage meaningful conversations.

My journey as a well-being practitioner was the topic of an interview by ACAP University College that you can read here.

I believe well-being support should be accessible to everyone. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please don’t let this be a barrier to joining my classes. Contact me to discuss options.
